Adam Smith?s economic theory is often subject to criticism, in which it is claimed to be inherently inconsistent. Recently, criticism from well-known scholars has arisen claiming Smith should be characterized a labor value theorist anticipating Karl Marx. This study seeks to analyze whether such criticism is legitimate. Firstly, the economic theory of Smith is discussed in terms of consistency, and secondly, a number of typical and main points of the critique, from the most influential of his contemporary critics, are lifted up and analyzed.

Abstract (magisteruppsats, 61-80p)This paper is concerned with the national sentiments in the Federal State of Germany,regarding the east- and west-German cleavages, since the unification of the country in 1990.The point of departure is the nationalistic theory crafted together by the scholar AnthonyDavid Smith, which implies an ethno-symbolistic perspective on the dynamics of nations.The main question in the paper is to which extent you can consider the East- and WestGermans to be a unity, considering the past and the forty-year-division. For this reason theauthor basically uses two different sources: scientific books and the German journal DerSpiegel.Founded on Smith's theory, the study contains a broad explanation for national identities incontemporary states, which ranges from pre-modern times, when the ethnic communities werecreated, to the national world of today.The discontinuity of the German case, represented by the separation 1949-90 of the Germannation into two entirely different societies, makes it possible to draw conclusions about whichfactor that has the pivotal impact on national identities.The result turns out to be that the national historical core-values and symbols of the currentGerman state and nation are more profound than the splitting national sentiments. Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka hemtjänstpersonalens erfarenheter av ett datoriserat kvalitetssäkringssystem. Vi var intresserade av hemtjänstpersonalens kunskaper om kvalitetssäkringssystemet samt vad systemet hade åstadkommit. En del studier i tidigare forskning lyfte fram frågan om kvalitet kan mätas med användning av ny teknik. Andra studier hade visioner om att den nya tekniken skulle kunna förändra, utveckla och förbättra äldreomsorgen. En kvantitativ metod användes med enkätformulär.

The purpose of this work was to investigate the early medieval view of the Bilical king David through the analysis of ten illuminations found in early medieval manuscripts in which he is depicted playing string instruments. First, a description of medieval manuscripts and king David and string instruments was presented, second, an analysis and a discussion of images as source material and an interpretation of the mythic and symbolic significance that is based on ideas presented by Paul Ricoeurs and Roland Barthes of the ten illuminations followed. The results showed that king David often was portrayed as a musical king, a dancer and a prophet that incarnated wisdom and justice; that king David served as a role-model for the Western regents, and that he was portrayed in an idealised and estethically appealing manner..

I am aware of that this is not true history, but it is nevertheless interesting to ask oneself: Why are those people a part of the deuteronomical history? What was the meaning in telling the story in this way?Exegetes and researchers are trying to give the relationship between Jonathan and David a place in the political realm, but here I have used several sources to show that it is not only a political story, but a loveaffair, where Jonathan is pictured as a submissive woman and thereby excludes himself from the throne of Israel. David on the other hand, acts as the perfect man, who is in command in spite of his youth. He does not break the rules of the patriarchal society, where the relation between two men was accepted as long as the older one did not play the womans role.

Studien undersöker utvecklingen av afrikansk-amerikansk religion i början på 1800-talet i USA. Materialet som studien är konstruerad på består av en undersökning gjord på sex olika slavar som blev predikanter och pastorer. Undersökningen i Studien svarar om dessa individers yrkesroll och socialisering var av betydelse för det religiösa engagemanget och dess utveckling. Slavarnas yrkens betydelse undersöks med hjälp av Etzionis teori om tvångsorganisationer och med Durkheims arbetsfördelningsteori. Studien avser att bidra med information om hur afrikansk-amerikansk religion utformades i början av 1800-talet. .

The aim of this study is to study the construction of literary values. I have been looking at how literature awarded with sponsored literary prizes has been reviewed in four major English and American newspapers. I have been studying the reception of literature by Ian McEwan, Hilary Mantel, Colm Tóibín and Zadie Smith between 2000 and 2012. The prizes in focus are the Man Booker Prize, the Orange prize for fiction and the Costa Awards. There seems to be an increasing number of articles related to each author after they have been awarded a prize, however with little change in the content of the reviews.

This study aspires to find an answer to what makes a negotiation for peace successful. In our pursue to do so we have chosen two cases to compare with each other through a set of different theories. The theories we believed could be relevant were ripeness/readiness, asymmetry, the strategies of mediation, intra-state conflicts and personal actors.The case-study consists of two negotiations that both took place in Camp David. The first one was between Egypt and Israel, 1978, and serves as the example of a successful negotiation. The second case was, again, with Israel but the counterpart was Palestine and took place in year 2000.

Syftet med min uppsats är att undersöka förhållandet mellan fyra av den kanadensiske regissören David Cronenbergs filmer och den gotiska traditionen. De filmer jag valt att behandla är Shivers (1974), Rabid (1976), The Brood (1979) och Dead Ringers (1988). Den gotiska traditionen utmärks bland annat av en fokusering på kroppsligt baserad skräck. Skräck med utgångspunkt i kroppen återfinns även i Cronenbergs filmer. Vid en närmare studie av dessa filmer har jag dock funnit att de även innehåller element av det som feministiskt inriktade forskare kallat familjegotik ? gotiska representationer av familjen..

Syftet är att kartlägga användningen, nyttan och framtida användningen av ekonomistyrningsverktyg i de största tillverkningsföretagen i Sverige, jämföra resultaten med en tidigare studie av Chenhall och Langfield-Smith samt att undersöka samband mellan företagsspecifika variabler och val av ekonomistyrningsverktyg. En Internetbaserad enkät skickades ut till de 200 största tillverkande företagen i Sverige. Enkätstrukturen var utformad för att efterlikna studien av Chenhall och Langfield-Smith på australiensiska tillverkande företag. Följande slutsatser kan dras: 1) Traditionella ekonomistyrningstekniker anses ha en fortsatt hög spridning och framtida användning. 2) Adapteringen av nya ekonomistyrningstekniker går framåt.
